The country music superstar had the audience on their feet as she took to the stage with the likes of Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves for a spectacular medley of her best songs. She was also joined by goddaughter Miley Cyrus, as well as Maren Morris and Little Big Town. The performance took in the likes of Here You Come Again, Jolene and the song Red Shoes from Dumplin’.
The impressive performance ended with a blast of the iconic smash 9 to 5 – from the 1980 film of the same name.
The performance came 41 years after Parton won her first Grammy, back in 1978.
Cyrus tweeted afterwards: “I will always LOVE YOU @dollyparton Your beauty is beyond compare!”
The View star Ana Navarro tweeted: “Folks, Dolly Parton is 73 years old. I’ll have what she’s having.”
Some viewers were left incredibly moved.
“I’m crying over dolly parton pls she’s my favorite person in the whole wide world,” tweeted one viewer.
“Crying rn bc Dolly Parton is too good for this world. #Grammys,” said another.
A third enthused: “Miley’s f***ing singing JOLENE WITH DOLLY PARTON IM CRYING #grammys.”
“Dolly Parton thanking everyone over & over just for performing makes my heart feel so big I’m crying,” wrote someone else.
Various audience members could also be seen during the telecast being incredibly touched by the performers on stage.
The lady herself tweeted afterwards: “@KaceyMusgraves, @katyperry, @MileyCyrus, @MarenMorris, @RealLindaPerry, @littlebigtown, I will always love you!! Thanks for joining me tonight! #GRAMMYs.”
The prizes last night were dominated by Musgraves, who won Album of the Year, as well as Childish Gambino, Cardi B and Lady Gaga.
