“So on that subject I felt I had to give a message,” he continued. “If we can get a message out that if something terrible has had happened in your life and you lose somebody that you love very much and you can get a positive from it and help others I think that’s what I took on board. 

“I’ve tried to keep the weight of grief off me, the weight of grief is massive, more than anything I’ve ever dealt with in my life.

“You’re fighting it off everyday and I just want others to know that you can get help. We’re not going to get locked up in Broadmoor or something like that because you’ve got mental health problems but back in the 80s that was the thinking.”
