This month Andrea Bocelli is marking the 10th anniversary of, what is for him, his career highlight with a rerelease of Concerto: One Night In Central Park. The Italian tenor famously performed in the Big Apple accompanied by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Westminster Symphonic Choir. After streaming the whole 2011 concert on YouTube last weekend, Andrea has released a new video being interviewed about it by his daughter Virginia Bocelli.
Virginia, who performs with her father occasionally, attended the concert while still inside her mother’s womb.
The 9-year-old introduced the video in which she interviewed Andrea while sitting on his lap.
She said: “Hello everyone thank you for tuning into my dad’s YouTube channel.
“Today we will be here answering some questions you will send us and we hope you enjoy the show. Now let’s get on to my dad’s questions.”
There, she handed Andrea a guitar and the two began to sing a stunning cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Virginia would go on to perform in the same concert as her half-brother Matteo Bocelli, alongside their father, back in April this year.
On singing with his kids in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Andrea wrote on Instagram: “Finally, I leave with a great and private gift that, until recently, I had considered unattainable… For the first time, three Bocellis sang on stage together with their own voices: Virginia and Matteo, alongside their dad. Family is music in itself, it is the score that restores life’s harmony.
“My family is my strength, and it was so sweet to have them beside me in the enchantment of AI-Ula, a place that speaks to the heart and bears witness to a much larger family, of which we are all part, the one – thousands of years old – that unites the world in an immense, interconnected community.”
