Argos DOWN: UK online store stops working, promises fix ‘soon’

Argos is down for shoppers across the UK. Following the closure of its brick-and-mortar stores on March 23 in compliance with the latest Government guidelines to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Argos website is now the only way to buy products from the high street company. Argos is currently offering a number of deals and discounts featured on its homepage, which cover a wide range of product categories, including electronics and technology, speakers and audio, 4K TVs, and home. These can be ordered for home delivery or “click and collect” from Sainsbury’s supermarkets. Or, they would be, if the website hadn’t suffered a colossal outage.

In a message to customers now displayed on the website whenever you try to load the online storefront, Argos states: “Sorry about this. We’re just fixing something. Please bear with us. We’ll be back soon.”

Argos went down earlier in the day before returning online. The company had previously warned customers that its website would be down for essential maintenance last night, but that everything would be back to normal and running from 5am. It’s unclear whether the problems stopping Britons in lockdown accessing the online store are related to last night’s fixes.

Whatever the problem, it does seems to be sporadic. Argos went offline earlier this morning, before returning and working as expected for a few hours. However, it has now suffered another glitch and stopped working for UK shoppers. The official customer support Twitter account, @ArgosHelpers, has yet to acknowledge the problem or offer a solution forbargain-hunters looking to buy items from Argos who are unable to access the site.
