Boris Johnson agreed to restart Brexit talks with the European Union earlier today after the bloc caved to the Government’s demands to compromise. But Express.co.uk readers have urged the Prime Minister to walk away from the negotiating table and pursue a no deal Brexit.
Express.co.uk asked its readers what they thought Mr Johnson’s next move should be, ahead of the announcement trade talks would recommence.
The poll, carried out from 11am-8pm on Wednesday October 21, asked: “Should Boris Johnson ignore the EU and begin no deal preparations now?”
The overwhelming majority of the 3,649 respondents voted “yes”, with 99 percent (3,603).
Just one percent (41 people) voted “no”, while less than one percent (five people) opted for “don’t know”.
Readers then took to the comments to justify the way they had voted.
One person wrote: “We should have started the no deal preparations the day the vote came in.”
Another user agreed and said: “The UK should have started WTO preparations in 2016, now is simply better than never.”
A third wrote: “NO DEAL is a good deal compared with what is on offer, which is practically nothing but demands and threats.
“Probably the most hapless hopeless bloke we have ever had for a Prime Minister.”
Other readers also criticised Mr Johnson, with one person writing: “Johnson appears to have been born without a spine.
“He is allowing, as May did, to make us look fools.”
While other users took the opportunity to vent their fury at the EU.
One person wrote: “No deal…and let’s just get on with it!
“The EU consistently asking the same questions will not get them a different answer.
“They just don’t get the operative word of ‘independent’ as in ‘state’.
“If you want our fish you can damn well pay for it!”
A second said: “The EU is lost in a game of their own making. Just walk away. Freedom is ours.”
