Boris Johnson rushed to hospital after doctor noticed critical symptoms during video call

A dramatic turn of events occurred yesterday as the Prime Minister was taken into intensive care at St Thomas Hospital, London, after suffering persistent coronavirus symptoms. President Donald Trump said in a statement that “all Americans are praying” for Boris Johnson, after 10 Downing Street had originally played down the PM’s condition, saying he had gone to hospital for “tests”.

This prompted many to believe that the US had inside knowledge into the real extent of Boris’s symptoms.

Trump said yesterday: “I want to send best wishes to a very good friend of mine, and a friend to our nation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson.”

Mr Johnson had continued to work remotely since his original diagnosis of coronavirus.

He reportedly wanted to carry on leading the battle against coronavirus much like his “war-time hero” Winston Churchill.

However as his symptoms continued to persist, he had a ZOOM conference call with his GP, who noticed that Mr Johnson had got “markedly worse” than when they had spoken previously.

The main concern from the doctor was that previously Boris had suffered pneumonia type symptoms, although this might not be the case now, it is certainly relevant.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Do not underestimate the macho nature of the Westminster political Establishment. Boris will not have wanted to look weak.”

The GP forced the PM to get down to the hospital or potentially be at risk from the critical impact of the virus.

Mr Johnson proceeded to back up his bags and be driven alongside his bodyguards to St Thomas Hospital.

Another source said: “It’s been admirable the way he’s wanted to carry on with the job, leading from the front, and making sure he is on top of every decision. But in the end, he’s not done his health any good. He has to give in to the virus and rest.”

An outpouring of support has arisen on social media for the Prime Minister since the news broke of his condition.

Both #clapforboris and #prayforboris were in the top three trending Twitter topics in the UK during the early hours of Tuesday.

One person on Twitter said: “No matter what side of the political spectrum you are on, @BorisJohnson is the leader of our United Kingdom. This is absolutely awful news for the country. Here’s hoping he pulls through & makes a full recovery.“

Another added: “This man has done our country proud! I know supporting the NHS on Thursday nights, clapping is really good. However this week we should all clap for this man! Clap for his hard work, dedication and long hours for our country, who’s with me? Come on Boris! #prayforBoris @BorisJohnson

A third said: “Regardless of where you stand on the political axis, Boris isn’t just the PM, he is also someone’s fiancé & soon to be father, son & brother. Anyone who has ever had a family member sent to the Intensive Care Unit will know how scary this time is. Pray for Boris. #PrayForBoris”

Mr Johnson’s pregnant girlfriend Carry Symonds was also forced to self isolate after showing symptoms of coronavirus.

She is now unable to be by Mr Johnson’s side at this moment.

Many thought Mr Johnson would be able to fight the virus and recover in the way Mr Hancock had, who made television appearances over the weekend.

However, the Prime Minister is 15 years older than Mr Hancock and did not take time to recuperate as he continued to chair virtual cabinet meetings.
