Boris Johnson warns second wave to hit UK in TWO WEEKS after spike in new outbreaks

Coronavirus cases have been rising across the UK, with the average daily number of infections hitting nearly 700. This is the highest number of average daily cases for more than three weeks. Government statistics also revealed today that 581 more people have tested positive, which is 30 per cent higher than the 445 cases recorded the same day last week.

A Downing Street source told Mail Online: “The PM is extremely concerned by what he’s seeing abroad and fears we could be seeing the same thing here in a fortnight.

“People have got to realise we are still in the middle of a pandemic.

“He wants to go further on opening things up and getting people back to work, but he knows it’ll be his head on the block if things go wrong.”
