Bradley Walsh attacked by The Chase fans for ‘nasty’ Anne Hegerty weight jibe ‘Low blow!’

The Chase is aired into television screens up and down the nation every afternoon to kickstart the evening. During a recent instalment of the popular ITV quiz show, those watching at home saw host Bradley Walsh make a joke about Anne Hegerty. Unfortunately, fans didn’t find the remark very funny and took to Twitter to complain.

At the start of every episode, Bradley introduces the possible Chasers who could be sitting in the hot seat and usually, it is accompanied by some joke or sarcastic remark referencing their stage name.

For Anne ‘The Governess’ or Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, he usually comments on their weight.

During Sunday night’s instalment which was a celebrity special, viewers thought Bradley went too far with his joke.

Adam Garcia, singer Carol Decker, comedian Holly Walsh and presenter Rylan Clarke-Neal had come together to take part in hopes of winning for their chosen charities.

One wrote: “Bradley Walsh dropping fat jokes on the chase to the chasers.”

“Getting a bit boring and rather rude. #TheChase #thechaser #itv,” someone else added.

Why is he so rude about Anne’s weight when Jenny is at least the same size?” Another suggested.

A viewer commented: “Tbh it’s a bit of a low blow but she does give as good as she gets. There’s a fine line when joking. To be funny but at same time not to offensive.”

Stop it Brad, that’s horrible. Always belittling Anne’s weight,” a fifth posted.

I know he was only joking but I’m watching the #TheChase & Bradley asks Ann Hegerty “would you do Bake Off” she said no & Bradley said “probably because you’d never see the end product” personally I thought that was a bit nasty as he was referring to her being overweight,” a tweet read. has contacted Bradley Walsh’s representative for comment.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
