“Pet passports are disappearing for British pets on January 1,” he said.
“So if you want to take your dog, your cat or your ferret, because they are covered by pet passports as well, you will have to take them to the vet four months before you want to travel to make sure they have got the right vaccinations and the right certification.
“Unlike the standard passport rule, however, if a deal is secured in the coming days this could change some of the restrictions surrounding travel with a dog, cat or ferret.
“Now, if there is a deal in the next couple of days there might be something in that which might streamline the pet travel process as part of the chapter about animal and livestock health,” the expert explained.
