The Conservative MP for Wycombe came to blows with the BBC Broadcaster and journalist when she asked whether he knew how Boris Johnson could leave the EU without a deal. She said: “Has Boris Johnson told you, Steve Baker as a Conservative MP, as a passionate Brexiteer how he will leave without a deal on the 31st of October, legally?
“Has he told you how he’ll do it?”
Mr Baker said that a number of ministers had told him that there was a “way through” without a deal despite the Benn Act that was enforced by Remainer parties.
He said: “I’ve had a number of conversations with a number of ministers.
“I’m very clear that they believe they have a way through.
“I don’t want to know what it is.”
Mr Baker tried to continue his point but what was quickly interrupted by Ms Barnett.
Ms Barnett attempted to mock the Brexiteer by saying, “you don’t want to know what it is?!”
She then continued to viciously attack the Tory MP.
He continued: “The answers is I don’t wish to know because the moment it’s in the public domain, our opponents will act with great furious anger to try and stop it.
“And I’m afraid when you look at their willingness to overturn every constitutional convention to break their promises and manifestos, to try and overturn a referendum result.
“I mean they have breached the rules of the House of Commons.”
Ms Barnett then interrupted Mr Baker once again and asked: “The point is, there is a way?”
Mr Baker continued: “Our opponents are willing to stop at nothing to stop Brexit.
“And in such circumstances, I am quite happy that the Government should enjoy secrecy on this point.”
Ms Barnett attempted to conclude Mr Baker’s point by mocking his response to her question.
She added: “The public may not feel like that, but that is your take.
“Thank you very much.”
However, Mr Baker quickly responded by saying, “it’s only a matter of weeks”.
Ms Barnett added: “29 days!”
