Wilson has been universally hailed as a writer of one of the greatest American songbooks, Pet Sounds, which has reigned atop countless critic and fan polls, and has maintained its timeless rank as one of popular music’s most-cited influences.
The Pet Sounds Anniversary World Tour was named one of Rolling Stone’s Greatest Tours of 2017 and it travelled to more than 24 countries for 180 performances from 2016-2018.
Of course, Wilson is also known for being frightened of performing on stage, and was forced to retire from the Beach Boys after this became a problem for him, along with mental illness and drug abuse.
However, since the death of his brothers, he joined the Beach Boys reunion in 2012 before Mike Love continued the band without him and Al Jardine, instead touring with Bruce Johnston after being given the rights over the band’s name.
Now, Wilson is touring with Jardine and short-term member Blondie Chaplin.
