COD fans aren’t used to having to wait this long to find out what will be replacing the latest game – this year it being Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
So far, gamers have had to rely on leaks to find out about the upcoming project, which is expected to be called Call of Duty Black Ops – Cold War.
This suggests the next game in the sub-series will be going back to its roots, focusing on a historical setting, instead of leaping into the future.
This could prove to be an excellent move, as Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s style of gameplay has helped propel it to the top of the Call of Duty sales charts.
But while gamers know what the game will be called, they still don’t know when it will be revealed for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
And from what has been shared so far by Easter egg hunters, the reveal may be tied to the launch of Call of Duty MW and Warzone Season 4.
So when will we find out more regarding Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War?
CALL OF DUTY WARZONE SEASON 4
Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 was supposed to kick off last week, bringing with it a new Battle Pass and weapons.
However, since its original announcement, Activision has chosen to postpone the launch, due to the current situation in the United States and the global protests against racial injustice.
This has led to Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 being delayed indefinitely, meaning we don’t have an official release date at this time.
This also seems likely to affect the COD Cold War reveal, as players have found clues that point to the game’s eventual reveal.
This includes players finding hidden Spy Planes and other clues that hint at something big happening soon.
There is also a chance that the newly opened Bunkers will tie into the launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS COLD WAR REVEAL DATE
So far, no reveal date has been announced by Activision for its next Call of Duty game.
If Warzone is indeed tied to the full announcement of COD Cold War, we would expect to see some movement after the release of Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4.
A new leak suggests that this might happen sometime this week, meaning the final hints could start to be released for the next game.
And that would open the door to Activision announcing Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War during June, or early July 2020.
This month has also seen pre-Alpha gameplay footage leak of the upcoming Call of Duty.
The gameplay leak is unverified and should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it’s the closest we’ve come to a Call of Duty gameplay reveal in 2020.
The footage features fast-paced gunplay, but the game world is far from finished.
Last year’s entry was announced in full on May 30, so it’s possible the 2020 Call of Duty could be unveiled very soon.
Black Ops 4, meanwhile, was announced in March 2018 but wasn’t fully unveiled until May 17.
But from what has been found so far, gamers won’t be waiting much longer to find out about the next Call of Duty Black Ops game.
