Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale release update: Warzone backed for success

The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode is reportedly landing very soon and is being backed as Activision’s next big game. While it hasn’t been unveiled yet, recent reports suggest that it will be called Call of Duty Warzone. And not only will it be available to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC but it will also be a free download for those who don’t own MW.

Activision and developers Infinity Ward are expected to announce Call of Duty Warzone in early March.

And that means big Call of Duty Modern Warfare news could be coming soon, perhaps this week.

Some fans are hoping that a big COD update will be announced very soon and there not the only ones excited about it.

Some industry experts are also backing this new Battle Royale mode to be a big success for Activision.

As reported by The Street, Analysts at Stephens Investment are predicting Warzone to be popular, making Activision Blizzard a good investment opportunity.

“We believe this is an attractive buying opportunity ahead of the rumoured ‘Call of Duty Warzone’ (battle royale mode), potentially launching in the next week,” The Street quotes a Stephens analyst.

Adding that Call of Duty Warzone “should provide a positive near-term catalyst and help sustain the already strong engagement/monetisation of Modern Warfare.”

“We believe the hype surrounding this battle royale mode should have a positive impact on engagement and spending, which has already been very strong for Modern Warfare.”

The report adds that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode is expected to release between March 3 and March 10.

This part of the report is based on the leaks that have surfaced since Modern Warfare Season 2 was launched.

Recent rumours claim that this new mode will be unveiled by Activision this month and will be available to play across all platforms.

This would explain the reason behind the new Classified section on the Modern Warfare menu, which has yet to be explained by developers Infinity Ward.

It’s hard to workout out what is right and what might be old information, but it appears Modern Warfare’s mode will be bigger than Black Ops 4’s Blackout.

A larger map will be available to explore, with up to 200 players participating in battles within a shrinking map space.

There are also rumours that Call of Duty Warzone will be available to play for free, regardless of if you own Modern Warfare.

Players from both versions will be able to play against each other, and there could even be a crossover when it comes to the Season 2 Battle Pass.

There have been a few clues shared by developers Infinity Ward that suggest something could be announced on March 3.

This includes two in-game Easter eggs, one being a movie poster, another a faded map, both sharing the March 3 dating.

Other reports suggest that the new Call of Duty Warzone Battle Royale mode will not be playable until later in March.

So there is still a chance of something being revealed this week, even if it is not made playable straight away.

Both Infinity Ward and Raven Software are reportedly involved in the development of the new Battle Royale experience.
