Call of Duty Modern Warfare servers down: COD Warzone queues on Xbox One

Gamers are reporting issues with logging in and playing on Call of Duty Modern Warfare servers tonight on Xbox One consoles.

The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be a problem attached to Activision-run services, but an issue with Microsoft’s Xbox Live platform.

Issues started being reported online by gamers just before 9pm GMT and appear to be localised to Xbox One consoles. However, Activision has shared a blanket statement regarding all its servers, meaning there might be problems on other platforms too, such as PS4 and PC.

A message from Activision confirms: “We’re currently experiencing connectivity issues. This incident is under investigation.”

No other changes have been reported on the official Call of Duty server status page but this is expected to change if today’s outage continues.

This problem is being felt acutely on Call of Duty Warzone, Activision’s new free-to-play Battle Royale experience. Having only just launched this week, developers Infinity Ward decided to only offer games including trios.

This appears to have been done to help keep server issues low and make sure games are populated towards the maximum, around 150 to a server.

However, today’s problems have seen Call of Duty gamers stuck in queues and some are no longer able to load into COD Warzone tonight.

“It keeps kicking me out when I start a warzone,” one affected user writes tonight. It appears that Call of Duty gamers will have to wait to find out what is affecting servers tonight from Microsoft.
