This is because animals can be a distraction to fellow road users or could provide a hazard if the pet decides to walk too close to the road.
Removing your pet from the car would incur a £2,500 penalty and up to six points on a driving licence, according to experts at Caravan Guard.
Liz Harrison, spokesperson at Caravan guard said the distraction could be “catastrophic” at high speeds.
