Car tax changes 2020: How much has your car tax gone up?

Hybrid vehicles are not exempt from the tax, and people with fully electric cars can expect to make further savings.

The Government has also scrapped the £320 “expensive car tax” for new and existing cars worth more than £40,000.

Anyone buying a new car after April 1 will no longer have to pay £320 a year from years two to six of vehicle ownership.

Overall, this could save them a total of £1,600.
