Celebrity MasterChef’s Gethin Jones forced to quit BBC show – ‘Robbed!’

In tonight’s Celebrity MasterChef semi-final, John Torode and Gregg Wallace announced Gethin Jones would not be progressing any further in the BBC show as a result of illness. Fans of the TV presenter were devastated by the news and shared their disappointment on social media.

After the seven semi-finalists had completed their first challenge, Gregg made an announcement.

He said: “Gethin is not joining us, he is unwell and I’m sure like us you wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.”

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “So is Gethin alright now then like I need this confirmation I’ve just been left on a soap cliffhanger ending #CelebrityMasterChef.”

“Enjoy the next hour – these guys can cook!!!” he continued.

Tonight’s semi-final saw YouTube personality Riyadh Khalaf, Loose Women star Judi Love and former Olympic rower Sir Matthew Pinsent battle it out in the kitchen.

Olympic hockey player Sam Quek, presenter Amar Latif and actor Phil Daniels also competed alongside Gethin.

In the first challenge of the second semi-final, the celebrities were joined by Italian chef Aldo Zilli.

The budding chefs were each challenged to prepare one of Aldo’s favourite recipes. 

Later, the six remaining contestants were tasked with serving up a dish inspired by someone they love or admire. 

After some spectacular dishes, John and Gregg sent Judi and Phil home. 

In the final episode of the series, Riyadh was crowned the 2020 champion.
