Chaos for Londoners as 25,000 homes left without water as city prepares for lockdown

A pipe burst in south London leading people look for alternative ways to wash their hands to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Thames Water said staff are treating the matter as an urgency. In a statement, they said several postcodes in South West and West London have either no water or low pressure.
They added: “Our specialist engineers are already on their way to investigate the problem, and they will be doing everything they can to get things up and running as quickly as possible.
“We’re really sorry if this has disrupted your day. We know this has happened at an especially difficult time and we understand the concerns you may have.”
It comes as the capital gears up for a major lockdown.
On Thursday 40 underground stations were due to be closed as transport services are rolled back.
