Clap for NHS heroes: WATCH moment nation comes together to applaud frontline staff

Thousands of people around the country have come together once again to clap for key workers to show their appreciation.
The ‘Clap For Our Carers’ campaign was created as a heartwarming tribute to the workers putting their lives on the line every day to fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Every Thursday, people hang out their windows and stand outside their doors at 8pm to clap.
Campaign organiser Annemarie Plas told Sky News: “This is for us to show them appreciation of what they do for us. I was hoping that we could continue this clapping every Thursday until the end of the lockdown.”

Sky News spoke to one London resident who was nearly stuck in Dubai before the lockdown was implemented.
He told the broadcaster: “Fortunately, I was able to come back home to be safe with family.
“This gesture from all of us is the least we can do from the safety and comfort of our homes.
“We want to thank all the fantastic workers in the NHS, the care and everybody else providing fantastic community service for the country.”
