Sarah Newman replied: “I usually just run a 90C wash with 125ml in the detergent compartment of the drawer and a good measure of soda crystals that seems to keep the limescale at bay.

“I’m also in a really bad hard hard water area.”

Some Mrs Hinch fans asked how to use the soda crystals.

“Soda crystals are so cheap though if that works I’m switching.”

You can buy soda crystals from ASDA for 65p.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using biological washing powder and white vinegar.

Facebook user Gaynor Smith said: “We’ve got something called a Combimate which helps with the limescale but is a lot less expensive than a softener (we’ve had both) and and I also use white vinegar instead of conditioner – so far so good.”

Emma Louise Daglish said: “Once a week do a very hot empty wash with a scoop of biological washing powder.”
