How do drive through test centres work?

You must book in advance via the Gov.uk website – you cannot show up to a testing centre unannounced, even if you’re an NHS worker.

To ensure social distancing guidelines are adhered to, upon arriving at a centre you must stay in your car and not open your windows unless instructed to do so.

Patients will be swabbed outside by specialist nurses.

Results should be issued via text within 72 hours.

Can I get a private test?

Private testing kits are an option for those who want to be tested quickly and don’t mind paying.

They can be ordered online, via a number of private clinics and laboratories, and prices start at around £200.
