Covid vaccine: Boris says ‘top 4’ priority groups will receive first vaccine dose in weeks

According to the PM, those in the top four priority groups would receive a first vaccine dose by mid-February.

Included in the top four priority groups are those over 70s, those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, those in care homes, and health and care workers.

Mr Johnson’s vaccination targets comes after an 82-year-old retired maintenance manager became the first person in the UK to receive the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab.

More than a million people in the UK have already been vaccinated with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and its roll out will continue at pace in the coming weeks.
