David Bowie Heroes song: Is V-2 Schneider about late Kraftwerk founder Florian Schneider?

The second album of her Belin trilogy, Heroes, is where the song V-2 Schneider can be heard, though there are no lyrics except for those in the title which point to the Kraftwerk co-founder.

The song is mostly instrumental and references the V-2 rocket, the first ballistic missile, which had been developed for the German Army during the Second World War.

The engineers behind this were also involved in the American space programme, with which Bowie was obsessed.

Florian Schneider, born Florian Schneider-Esleben on April 7, 1947, founded experimental band Kraftwerk with Ralf Hütter in 1970, after meeting two years previously while studying.
