The president said he had no further insight into Kim’s health, despite insisting at the beginning of the week that he has a “good idea” about the leader’s state. Mr Trump admitted: “I understand what is going on, I cannot just talk about him right now.”
Before adding: “Just hoping that everything will be fine. But I do understand the situation very well.”
President Trump is the first US President to have met with a North Korean leader.
The pair are said to share a good relationship and often write to each other.
Previously, Mr Trump has said he “fell in love” with the North Korean leader.
The current condition of Kim is unknown and the wealthy class within Pyongyang is said to be concerned that he has disappeared from public life.
On Monday the President claimed he couldn’t talk about the leader’s whereabouts.

The South Korean government has maintained that Kim is alive and handling state affairs from an undisclosed location.
Earlier the ex-Vice Chief of Staff of the US Army Jack Keane has said that the US government has more intelligence that they are not disclosing to the public.
He said: “The US administration knows more than they want to talk to us about.
“It is likely [Kim] is alive because Trump is wishing him well, and Pompeo is saying they are monitoring his whereabouts. They wouldn’t say that if he was dead.
“It is likely there is something fundamentally wrong. I doubt he is just trying to hide from the coronavirus because he could still be seen doing that.
“In North Korea, they are paranoid about showing any piece of weakness – not just to the world, but even their own population.
“Even having an illness is a weakness to them. Any visible sign that things are not right, they will try to protect,” he added.
The rumour mill went into overdrive that Kim Jong has died after he missed Day of the Sun celebrations on April 15.
South Korean Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul has said it’s possible that Kim Jong skipped the event due to “coronavirus concerns”.
“He had never missed the anniversary for Kim Il Sung’s birthday since he took power, but many anniversary events including celebrations and a banquet had been cancelled because of coronavirus concerns,” said Mr Yeon
