Driver banned after dash cam footage shows van flying over a roundabout

A motorist has been fined and received a driving ban after dash cam footage caught his van soaring over a roundabout. The reckless driver’s van soared over an A11 roundabout in a dramatic fashion which saw the car career through the air. Behind the wheel was teenager Ryan Lamb, 18, who was found guilty of dangerous driving at Norwich Magistrates’ Court last week. At the time of the crash, Lamb was heading to Sundown music festival at the Norfolk Showground on September 1st, 2018.

The dramatic clip shows the silver Berlingo driving quickly toward a roundabout and failing to stop.

It is then riding up the ridge of the roundabout and gaining significant air before landing again.

After being found guilty of dangerous driving the motorist was charged with a driving ban for 12 months.

In addition to this, he was ordered to sit an extended retest, pay £310 towards the CPS’s costs, complete 80 hours’ unpaid work and pay an £85 victim surcharge.

Chairman of the bench Jim Agnew said when sentencing him: “Your driving fell far below the expected standard of competent and careful driving.”

Andy, of Hingham, Norwich said: “I was actually on my motorbike behind him so I saw it all.

“I pulled over along with some other drivers to see if he was OK.

“It is quite a bad roundabout, he just didn’t see what was coming because he was going so fast.

“The driver had a few cuts and bruises but the ambulance came straight away and took him to hospital.

“He just didn’t see the roundabout coming.”
