DVLA driving licence photocards will be extended for seven months from today

Fears have also surfaced for many elderly drivers who looked set to miss renewal of their licence as the agency scrapped paper applications.  

The DVLA has pushed for people to use their online services which could be unavailable to thousands of motorists over the age of 70. 

The rest of the UK has followed the steps set by Northern Ireland which announced an extension last week. 

Infrastructure Minister, Nichol Mallon, confirmed licences would be extended for a further seven months which will allow motorists to make key journeys.
