Emmerdale viewers last saw a resident killed off back in February when Graham Foster (played by Andrew Scarborough) was struck by a vengeful Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather). Now, someone else is soon due to meet their maker on the ITV soap after it was confirmed another character’s death would happen on-screen and with an increasing number of characters finding themselves involved in drama, who will be the victim of the horrifying murder plot?
Multiple residents have seen themselves get into more trouble than is good for them in recent months.
From scandalous love-triangles to new faces landing on-screen, it has now been revealed someone’s days in the Dales are numbered.
John Whiston, Managing Director of Continuing Drama for ITV, recently revealed on an interview with Sky News there would be a socially-distanced murder coming up.
He teased: “In terms of normal stuff that goes on in soaps, we’ll have to socially distance murders and we actually have one coming up in Emmerdale quite soon.”
However, it won’t be a traditional murder plot as due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the soap is filming with its stars two metres apart from each other.
This means things will be played out in a more unconventional fashion and with the specifics currently under wraps, fans of the soap have started to wonder who might end up as the victim.
As always, there are multiple residents who’ve made an increasing number of enemies, so Express.co.uk has lined-up a few characters who could be saying goodbye to the Dales forever.
Earlier this year, several residents were left shaken by the arrival of bent copper, DI Malone (Mark Womack), who had previous interactions with more than one character.
He was introduced after Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was accidentally shot by his long-lost father Cain (Jeff Hordley), who mistook him for rustlers targeting his estranged wife Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) farm.
However, he has made life difficult for another character in the form of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) after it was revealed the latter had worked for him in the past when he was embroiled in a drugs gang.
Of course, another storyline which has been prevalent in the Dales this year is the love-triangle between Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale), Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln).
A scorned Andrea recently exposed Jamie and Belle’s affair to the whole of The Woolpack, which led to her fleeing the village with her and Jamie’s young daughter Millie (Willow Bell).
As the storyline clearly is far from over, could Belle or Jamie decide to get the ultimate revenge on Andrea after she left them humiliated?
Belle has a murderous history after she killed her best friend Gemma Andrews (Tendai Rinomhota) – will she strike again in a desperate bid to stop Andrea getting her man back?
Or, as Andrea’s scheming against Jamie and Belle continues, she could end up looking for revenge in a more extreme fashion – especially after spending more time with Kim Tate (Claire King) – and get her own back on her husband’s lover.
Elsewhere, the soap could choose to kill off a character in more unpredictable circumstances and one person who could fit the bill is Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade).
With the character recently embarking on a dangerous romance with Al Chapman (Michael Wilding), viewers saw her rumbled by her brother Jai (Chris Bisson) – who is also the former’s rival.
With Jai furious about his sister’s new relationship and as his rivalry with Al is sure to get worse, could Priya end up the victim in a shock twist if things go disastrously wrong?
Whoever does end up left for dead on the soap is bound to send shockwaves lasting months – but who will it be?
Emmerdale airs Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV.
