Can you add Mac, iPad and iPhone users to the same group video call?

FaceTime group video chats can include those using Macs, iPads and iPhones – provided they are running the most up-to-date Apple software.

All FaceTime participants need to be using Apple devices – these include: iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro or later, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4 running iOS 12.1.4 or later, or Mac running Mojave 10.14.3 or later.

All participants also need to have FaceTime set up on their devices.

This is could not be easier to arrange: toggle to Settings, FaceTime and ensure the slider beside FaceTime is green.

How to add or remove people from a group FaceTime call:

Adding a person to a group FaceTime call could not be easier. From the call, tap the Add button icon, then tap Add Person.

Next enter the contact’s name, phone number or email address and tap Add Person to FaceTime.

When adding someone to a group FaceTime group call, you can tap Ring next to their name so their device alerts them of the incoming call.

When someone is added to a Group FaceTime call, they cannot be removed from the call.

Only the person who was added to the call is capable of ending the group FaceTime call.

How to switch from a regular call to FaceTime on an iPhone:

Look at the call menu that appears when you are on a phone call.

Then tap the FaceTime button to initiate a FaceTime video call.

You can press the Home Button (iPhone 8 and older) or swipe up from the bottom of your screen (iPhone X and newer) to exit the FaceTime app.

Doing this will cause your video to pause, though the other person on the call will still hear your audio.
