Square Enix is launching one of the most highly anticipated remakes ever attempted, and one that has taken a long time to develop. Coming first to PS4, the FF7 Remake is being launched in episodes, meaning this is just the first part. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 isn’t expected to arrive in 2020 but this new release will cover what happens in Midgar. A lot of new and expanded content has been made as part of the ambitious project, which is finally launching this week.
WHEN IS THE FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE RELEASE TIME?
Square Enix and Sony have confirmed that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date has been set for April 10, 2020.
And as mentioned above, this new version of FF7 will only be available to play on PS4 in 2020.
According to the PlayStation Store, Sony has set the official release time for Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Midnight, EST.
There’s a good chance that this timing will be used for all PSN regions but if not, FF7 should be available to download by 4am, BST, in the UK.
And there’s more good news for gamers hoping to jump in straight away on April 10, 2020.
Square Enix has also made it possible pre-load the Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PlayStation 4 consoles.
And that’s important when you consider just how big Final Fantasy 7 is to install on consoles.
The PS4 game will be at least 80GB to download on Day One, meaning it could take a long time to complete.
Some gamers have already received the game early due to the current global situation and the Square Enix team have requested that they keep spoilers to a minimal until everyone can play.
They told fans earlier this month: “We had some hard decisions to make during the final few weeks before launch due to disruption to distribution channels caused by the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“These unique circumstances have made it very difficult to align the timing of our global shipping.
“Our highest priority is that all of you, including those who live in countries currently facing the biggest disruption, can play the game at launch, so we made the decision to ship the game far earlier than usual to Europe and Australia.
“As a result, there is a greater chance that some of you in these regions will now get a copy of the game prior to the worldwide release date of April 10.
“For other western regions, including the Americas, copies will be shipped this week and we feel optimistic that most of you will receive the game for launch day. However, due to the challenging situation we cannot provide delivery dates for each country and each retailer.
“We really want all of you looking forward to FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE to play the game on April 10 and experience everything we have been working on, together.
“If you get the game early, please think of others and don’t spoil it for them. We know there are potential spoilers that have been out there for over two decades as the original FINAL FANTASY VII was released in 1997.
“But FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a new game that still has many surprises for everyone. All our fans and players deserve to experience the game for themselves, and we ask for the support of our dedicated community around the world to ensure that.”
