The manufacturer has confirmed it will notify dealers when the recall begins at the end of June.
As part of the free service offered to affected motorists dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and inspect the brake booster.
Parts will be replaced where necessary to ensure cars are returned to customers in a safe condition.
The recall has been issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) meaning it is a US issue. It is not known at this stage whether any UK models may be affected.
Concerned owners can contact the NHTSA where they can check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for any issues.
