A new Fortnite update has yet to arrive this week and it appears it won’t be popping up later today either. Epic Games usually shares its plans ahead of a big launch and that hasn’t happened this week. So we can probably guess that it won’t be coming our way on Thursday, May 14, 2020. But if we’re not finding out what is coming next in Fortnite Battle Royale, when is the next Fortnite update?
WHEN IS FORTNITE UPDATE 12.60 RELEASING?
Without official confirmation, it makes it hard to work out exactly when the next Fortnite update will be released on all platforms.
Data miners have delved into the files and have provided their own prediction on what to expect next.
Unless something surprising happens in the coming 48-hours, the next Fortnite update is expected to arrive on May 20, 2020.
This will reportedly be Fortnite update 12.60 and will probably be a big patch before the end of Season 2.
That doesn’t mean there will be a huge amount of new content, but it could mean other big changes for fans.
Recent leaks have suggested that new Dual-Wield weapons will be made available by Epic Games in the future.
So there is a slim chance that something like this, or a new item, will be included in Fortnite update 12.60.
But while we might not be getting much in the way of new content, we could see some real progress made with the end of Season event.
WHAT IS THE FORTNITE DOOMSDAY EVENT?
The Fortnite Doomsday event is tied to a device found by gamers during Season 2 which appears to be growing towards a final form.
Unlike other events, the Doomsday Superweapon can be found in Midas’ room in the hideout and not on the island.
But while the location of the device has proven different, it being built slowly over weeks follows a familiar pattern fans have seen with other big seasonal events, including famous ones like the Meteor.
It helps to create hype for the end of the Season, which is just a few weeks away on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch.
Epic Games never tells fans what they have planned but they do like to drop hints, such as adding new parts to a new Doomsday device.
Fortnite Season end events in the past have provided some kind of spectacle to watch, followed by an eye-catching map change.
And the same could happen with the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 in the coming weeks.
WHEN IS THE FORTNITE DOOMSDAY EVENT?
For now, we have no clear way of knowing when the Fortnite Doomsday event will kick off.
As the device itself can be found in the Hideout and not on the map, it’s unclear what part of the map could be altered.
Other events have seen fans drop into a certain location at a specific time to watch what unfolds.
So fans will need to keep an eye on what changes next in Fortnite Battle Royale.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is scheduled to end on June 4, 2020, meaning the Doomsday event has to happen in the coming weeks.
Fortnite update 12.60 could include some surprises but until Epic Games announces its plans, everything will remain a rumour.
