New Xbox Live free games are expected to be announced next week by Microsoft as part of its official Games with Gold plans in April. There is a chance the tech giant will wait until the final week of March to reveal its lineup, which could play a more important role in Xbox owner lives in April. There’s a lot of people who are stuck inside and that’s probably going to extend into April and beyond.
So a couple of new free games could be just what people need to pass the extra time inside.
Unfortunately, no juicy hints have been shared yet that could help to reveal what is being planned next for the popular Games with Gold program.
And with so many titles to choose from, it’s almost impossible to predict what Microsoft could be planning for next month.
AAA games always go down well but Xbox gamers also like to get access to titles they might not have played before.
For now, Batman: The Enemy Within – The Complete Season and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero can be downloaded for free if you have an Xbox Live subscription.
The Enemy Within will be replaced on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, with a new title, followed by Half-Genis on the 16th.
But unlike Sony’s PlayStation Plus service on PS4, Xbox Games with Gold reveal dates are a little harder to predict.
Microsoft could announce its plans at any time, with last month’s announcement arriving on February 25.
The same thing could happen next week, although we would predict official dropping on closer to March 30.
So it will be worth keeping track of Microsoft’s social media feeds over the coming days.
Last year’s Games with Gold selection included The Technomancer and Outcast: Second Contact, which speaks to how random the selection can be.
Meanwhile, the classic titles supplied from the Xbox 360 included Star Wars Battlefront II and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.
While fans wait, there are secondary Xbox Live Gold bonuses to enjoy courtesy of Microsoft.
Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download and play Sea of Thieves and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for free this weekend.
This Free Play trial runs until Sunday, March 22 at 11:59 p.m. PDT, or 8am on March 23 if you live in the UK.
The good news is that if you like either game, you can buy them at a discounted price for as long as the Free Play Days event is active.
Details for both titles can be found below:
Sea of Thieves: “Sail through storms, explore ancient temples, grapple with krakens and uncover treasure in a vast shared world, either sailing solo or crewing up with other players. There’s plenty of loot up for grabs, and any pirate who plays Sea of Thieves during Free Play Days will receive the coveted “X-Marks-the-Spot” Eye of Reach. Got Xbox Game Pass?
“You’ll be able to snag a celebration emote to express yourself in-game, and Ultimate subscribers will also unlock a ship design inspired by Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Whether you’re new to the seas or an experienced plunderer, you won’t want to miss out!”
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: “Forge your destiny as a legendary Spartan hero in the lush world of Ancient Greece. From the height of snowy peaks to the depths of the Aegean Sea, explore this iconic period from antiquity as it lies on the brink of tearing itself apart.
“Show off your warrior abilities in large-scale battles, fight through naval fleets, and uncover hidden treasures in an ever-changing world that is shaped by your choices. This is the first inclusion of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey to Free Play Days, plus Ezio’s Roman Set will be unlocked through Ubisoft Club to those who play this weekend.”
