Games with Gold April 2020: Xbox One fans left waiting following surprise PS Plus news

PS4 gamers got a surprise this week and now Xbox One owners are hoping for an early Games with Gold April 2020 reveal. An unexpected leak has confirmed that Sony has put together a strong lineup of free games for its PS Plus subscribers next month. And now Xbox Live members are hoping for something similar to be announced for Games with Gold April 2020. For those who might have missed it, Sony appears to have leaked the news that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be available as a PlayStation Plus download next month.

This came from an official PlayStation video channel, although the video announcing it was soon removed.

So PS4 gamers will probably have to wait a little while longer to find out the news officially. And it seems Xbox One owners are also ready to find out what’s coming next to Games with Gold.

Like PS Plus, Xbox Live Gold subscribers are given access to a collection of games each month. These remain available to play for free for as long as you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

But unlike PS4 owners, Xbox gamers have not spotted any juicy leaks to give them a hint at what is being planned by Microsoft.

The good news is that the tech giant could choose to drop news regarding Games with Gold for April any day this week.

Last month’s Gold announcement dropped on February 25, meaning there’s a chance that Microsoft could follow suit during March. However, with another week to run of the current month, Microsoft may also choose to wait until March 30 to reveal its plans.

And with so many titles to choose from, it’s almost impossible to predict what Microsoft could be planning for next month. AAA games always go down well but Xbox gamers also like to get access to titles they might not have played before.

Last year’s Games with Gold selection included The Technomancer and Outcast: Second Contact, which speaks to how random the selection can be.

Meanwhile, the classic titles supplied from the Xbox 360 included Star Wars Battlefront II and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.

While fans wait, there are secondary Xbox Live Gold bonuses to enjoy courtesy of Microsoft.

These include the new Phantasy Star Online 2 Open Beta, which is available to download now on Xbox One.

This officially launched last week and the full game is expected to arrive later in 2020, as a free-to-play title.

For those wanting more information on the RPG, you can find the official Microsoft description below:

“Phantasy Star Online 2 strives for a never-ending quest, with a variety of exciting systems and experiences, such as unpredictable Interrupt Events and Multiparty Areas, where up to 12 players can simultaneously team up for a special, sharable moment.

“PSO2 has a random field system. Every time players play the same quest, its level gets restructured completely at random except certain navigational terrains.

“Enemy spawn locations and events are also randomly regenerated, providing different experiences each time.”
