Gary Neville in angry rant at Man Utd and Liverpool European Premier League plans

The bombshell plot of a new FIFA-backed tournament which would involve Europe’s biggest clubs emerged on Tuesday, but the £4.6billion plans have been heavily criticised by the masses. Manchester United legend Gary Neville has also said his piece and made his opinion very clear.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville launched an angry rant while explaining his problem with the plans of a European Premier League.

The bombshell plot of a new FIFA-backed tournament which would involve Europe’s biggest clubs emerged on Tuesday.

United, along with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham, otherwise known as the ‘Big Six’, are the clubs thought to be keen to join.

However, Neville insists that now is not the time to be talking about big-money plans that could further hamper smaller clubs in the football pyramid.

“I’m for progression of football, with new competitions and new formats, but we have got to look after the fabric of the game and what it means to the communities in this country.

“There is a position, potentially, for a new European League and for an amazing Premier League, a fantastically competitive EFL and funded grassroots and non-league football. There is enough money.

“If they can pull $6bn together for a European league then they can pull together £150-200m to save the rest of football in this country.
