GB News host admits ‘it’s satisfying’ watching Phillip Schofield’s career ‘tumble’

announced he would be stepping down from his role on on Saturday following rumours of a feud between himself and on-screen co-star .

Since then, many have given their take on his exit and made their opinions on Phillip well-known.

The latest to do so is Stephen Dixon who admitted he “enjoyed” watching the drama following Phillip “unravel”.

In a column for GB News, he said: “I can’t lie, I’ve rather enjoyed watching the Phillip Schofield saga unravel.

“It is a bit unfair of me. I don’t know the man, but I do know of his reputation in the industry, much of which has been reinforced of late by interviews doing the rounds, including Carol McGiffin giving her take on GB News.”

Stephen said hosts should always “work for the good of the show” and anything which aids their own career is an “added benefit”.

He added those calling Holly a “backstabber” are “treading on thin ice”.

Stephen concluded: “It is fascinating to see this whole drama unfold, but just remember that most of the ring-side commentary is driven is ego, jealousy and bitterness.

“Whatever happens for Phil and Holly moving forward, we really should wish them well. This is an episode for them both filled with pain, upset and heartache.

“And at the end of the day, like the rest of us, they’re only human. Sadly, it’s presenters who often forget that.”

It comes after former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has leapt to the defence of Phillip.

Writing in his column for The Sun: “I don’t know the full story behind Phillip Schofield’s downfall, but where I feel personal empathy with him is over the manner of his sacking.

“For ITV to not even give him the chance to say a proper goodbye to his large, loyal audience after 21 years struck me as needlessly churlish, and I know he’s utterly heartbroken about it because he told me himself.”

Breakfast with Stephen and Anne airs Friday – Sunday from 6am on GB News.
