Google Maps Street View: Bizarre glitch mysteriously splits man in two – what happened?

Google Maps is a great tool for people wanting to map their way to new destinations or simply explore far-flung corners of the world at street level. However, the technology is also known for some of its bizarre glitches leaving humorous results.

Indeed, the man appears to be following an identical version of himself, with the same small child under his arm.

Both brown-haired men are dressed in identical outfits, as is the toddler.

One Reddit user has suggested it is a “glitch in the matrix” snapped by Google’s camera.

Another believes the image to be depicting a set of twins.

They wrote: “They are twins. They married twins. They had kids at the same time. Their kids also, look like twins.”

However, a more realistic user has an explanation.

They write: “This is very normal on Google maps since sometimes people are moving the same direction/speed as the Google camera. Sometimes you can follow a person or car for miles.”

Another added: “Just a dad playing with his kid. Image is split down the middle, common camera glitch.”

Indeed, glitches on Google Maps Streetview aren’t uncommon.

Google’s 3D technology works by capturing multiple images of a moment and then stitching them together in post-production to create a world which users can click their way around.

However, if a moving object is captured this can result in some bizarre scenes, duplicating or splitting them as they move.

A similar glitch happened in India, when a man holding a small girl appeared to have been chopped in half.
