The Transport Secretary faced numerous questions on Dominic Cummings after the Prime Minister’s senior advisor was allegedly being caught flouting the Government’s strict lockdown rules. Mr Shapps replied by saying ‘I can carry on answering it, but it’s the same answer each time’.
Mr Shapps said: “You have to get yourself locked down and you need to do that in the best and most practical way and that will be different for different people under whatever circumstances their particular family differences happen to dictate.
“That is all that has happened in this case.
“He was there, he stayed there.
“I can carry on answering but it is the same answer each time.”
Earlier today Boris Johnson’s chief strategist stated that he behaved “reasonably and legally’” after allegedly being caught flouting the Government’s strict lockdown rules by travelling to his parents’ home in Durham.
Mr Cummings was questioned regarding the trip by a group of journalists as he walked outside his house.
Mr Cummings told the group of journalists: “Who cares about looking good, it’s about doing the right thing.”
The senior advisor to the Prime Minister also told the group of journalists they were not standing two metres apart.
