Greece holidays: Greece extends ban on UK tourists in huge blow to British holidaymakers

The new ruling was announced yesterday, with Athens declaring the suspension of air links with the UK would continue for another two weeks.

“The ban [on passenger flights from] Great Britain remains in place for the next two weeks,” Greek tourism minister, Harry Theoharis, said in a televised presentation of the country’s health policies.

This comes after the EU Commission advised that the bloc must reopen its external borders in a “strictly coordinated” way.

On Thursday, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson said the body was advising that travel restrictions on non-essential travel be extended until June 30.
