Harry Kane reportedly failed to turn up for training on Monday morning as he looks to force through a move away from Tottenham this summer. Sky Sports claims he failed to arrive for training for a Covid test prior to a fitness session on Tuesday.
Kane is desperate to leave Tottenham this summer, with Manchester City eager to sign the England captain.
However, his ambition to leave is matched by Spurs’ desire to keep him.
Daniel Levy is said to be adamant that he won’t sell his star man this summer, especially to a Premier League rival.
As a result, it seems Kane has taken matters into his own hands, with Sky Sports reporting he failed to show up to the club’s training ground on Monday morning.
Kane, who came through the academy at Tottenham, is adored by the fanbase and loves the club.
However, a failure to compete for trophies has led to him looking for a move elsewhere, with City determined to sign him.
Tottenham are believed to have already turned down a bid in the region of £100million for the 27-year-old, who still has three years left to run on his current contract.
City are closing in on signing Jack Grealish, and reports have suggested they won’t have the finances to meet Spurs’ demands for Kane if they do.
But Kane effectively going on strike could help the Premier League champions’ cause, and could force Levy’s hand.
The Totteham chief doesn’t want to sell under any circumstances, but could be forced to cash in if his star man takes this action any further.
Kane was reportedly set to return to Tottenham training on Monday before beginning a fitness regime on Tuesday.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he made the decision not to show up to the club’s north London base.
Kane still believes he has a gentleman’s agreement with Levy, which he made last year, allowing him to leave.
The striker is said to have told Tottenham officials that he wanted to leave in 2020 when City first came knocking, but was told to stay put and give the club one more year.
However, last season things went from bad to worse as the club crashed out of the Europa League in embarrassing fashion, lost in the Carabao Cup final and failed to secure a top-four finish.
All eyes will now be on whether Kane continues to be absent on Tuesday.
