“It asks me to press 1 to discuss further. Can you confirm this is a scam?”
A third person expressed their dismay at receiving scam correspondence recently, saying: “I’ve had so many fake scam emails and calls recently.
“Do not press one, do not talk to these people, do not follow links in emails, just put the phone down.”
And another person said: “I’ve just had another scam phone call, it came up on my phone as ‘international’.
“The automated voice told me that HMRC have filed a lawsuit against me for non-payment of tax.
“If I wanted to speak to my case manager, press 1. HMRC would never contact someone by phone. If you get a call like this, just hang up.”
