Ignore the PS5! Your Fire TV Stick just got a game changing upgrade

Avid gamers can rejoice, as Amazon has unveiled a huge new upgrade to their Fire TV, launching their cloud gaming service in the UK. The popular online retailer announced that all customers in the UK can now enjoy their favourite games with Amazon Luna on supported devices they already own, including Fire TV Sticks and smartphones. That means there’s no need to buy an expensive console such as PS5 or Xbox.

Luna is a cloud-gaming service that essentially works like a video game equivalent of Netflix.

With Luna, you can play across multiple devices, including Fire TVs, Fire Tablets, Windows PCs, Chromebooks, Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Android phones.

Previously only available in the US, Britons are now offered instant access to stream console-quality games, for a monthly subscription.

If you already have a prime membership, however, this deal gets even sweeter, as subscribers can play a rotating selection of games on Luna at no additional cost.

Eric Saarnio, vice president of Amazon Devices International, said: “With Amazon Luna, we’re making gaming easier and more convenient by offering instant access to console-quality games on devices customers already own.

“Gamers in the U.S. have been enjoying Luna for the past year so we’re thrilled to now expand the service to customers in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.”

What games are on Luna?

Amazon Luna offers its subscribers a vast library of games to choose from, including casual titles, retro classic games, and even AAA series like Assassin’s Creed.

For Amazon Prime members, this month, the retailer is offering retro games like Mega Man 11 from Capcom, while next month, casual games like Jackbox Party Pack 3 will be included.

Prime members and Luna+ subscribers can also link their Ubisoft Connect account to Luna and play select Ubisoft PC games they already own on their Fire TV or any other supported device.

If you aren’t satisfied with a rotating series of games, customers can also pick between three different subscription options for even more titles.

Subscriptions available today are:

Luna+: Available at £8.99 per month, Luna+ gives customers access to a growing collection of games from across genres—action, adventure, classics, and more.

This is Amazon’s largest and most diverse collection of games, featuring popular titles like Beach Buggy Racing 2: Hot Wheels Edition, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated and Resident Evil 2.

Parents need not worry, as this catalogue includes family favourites, appropriate and approachable for gamers of all ages, along with a retro selection of beloved classics to bring back some nostalgia.

Ubisoft+ Multi Access: Ubisoft’s subscription service includes access to fan-favourite AAA titles including Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy, and Far Cry franchises for £14.99 per month.

Jackbox Games: Only available on Luna for £3.99 per month, the Jackbox Games subscription includes popular hits like Quiplash, Trivia Murder Party, and Drawful.

You don’t even need a special controller to enjoy games on Luna, as the Luna Phone Controller allows customers to play service on Fire TV using just their iPhone or Android phone, using a free app.

More serious gamers, however, can purchase the Luna Controller for £59.99, or even use a compatible third-party controller like the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, the Xbox One Controller, or just a Mouse and keyboard.
