India Test series causes England to make key selection decision over three players

England are set to change their entire seam attack for the second Test against Sri Lanka starting on Friday with a view to the India series in mind, according to reports. England beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in Galle on Monday, with captain Joe Root the star of the show after hitting 228 in the tourists’ first innings. Spinners Dominic Bess and Jack Leach each grabbed a five-wicket haul.

After the second Test, which again will be played in Galle, England will travel to India ahead of the four-match series that starts on February 5.

The four matches in India are squeezed into just over a month, so England are keen to manage the workload of their pace bowlers.

Stuart Broad and Sam Curran took the new ball in the first Test in Sri Lanka, with Mark Wood the third seamer.

However, it appears all three will be rested for the second match.
