“However, savers are finding rates fall to record lows, which is disappointing for those who rely on interest to supplement their income.
“Savers might feel like interest rates couldn’t possibly go any lower, but they would be wrong.
“In truth, the most flexible savings accounts could face further cuts should base rate move any lower or if savings provider’s decide they want to deter deposits.”
And, should interest rates drop below zero, the finance expert has warned that it could mean savers face paying for storing their money in accounts, Ms Springall explained.
