“I said we were going to lose him shortly but we really did lose him! Sadly we’ve lost the signal to John Ashworth there I’m afraid,” Shephard replied.
Reid asked: “How did that happen?”
“I think he went down sadly at that moment. We were told we had until five past seven and then the signal runs out!” Shephard joked.
After it was dumped in the harbour, Bristol council made efforts to remove it this morning and the relevant authorities say the statue will be placed in a museum.
The statue has been a controversial fixture in the city for a while, with repeated calls for it to be removed.
