Jurgen Klopp has revealed he had goosebumps as Liverpool fans returned to watch their team put on a show with a thrilling 4-0 victory over Wolves which takes them level on points with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table.
Around 2,000 lucky supporters were in attendance for the first time since March.
Strikes from Mohamed Salah, Gini Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and an own goal secured the three points for the hosts.
After the match Klopp went over to the Kop for his infamous ‘three punches’ celebration, with each effort greeted with a louder cheer.
And the gleaming German was delighted that the Merseysiders were allowed back into the ground because they have been placed in Tier 2 of the Government’s coronavirus restriction.
“Wasn’t it the perfect night?” Klopp said. “Imagine 10 months ago people would have told us we would have a game and 2,000 people would turn up.
“When we came out we all had goosebumps. I had no idea how it would feel. It was perfect.
“The noise, what the people did, they were on their toes you could see and feel and smell. They had waited so long for it.
“It is so much more enjoyable with people involved.”
He added: “Having people inside the stadium, hopefully we can build on that as a society, not just a football society.
“As long as nobody tells me someone was injured then it’s been a perfect night. Getting out of the dressing room for the warm-up, that was a proper goosebump moment.”
