Kate Middleton given £60,000 jewellery set by Prince Charles for this sweet reason

Kate Middleton, 38, joined the Royal Family when she married Prince William, 37, in 2011. Over the years, she has worn a beautiful yellow and white gold jewellery set on a number of occasions. The pricey set was a gift from Prince Charles and could have a sweet meaning.

The pieces were given to the Duchess shortly after her wedding by her father-in-law, Prince Charles.

The jewels appeared to be custom made and were likely to be a significant way to welcome her into the family, according to Anna Byers, head of bespoke at 77 Diamonds.

She told Express.co.uk: “After her wedding to Prince William, Prince Charles gave his new daughter-in-law a set of matching yellow and white gold pieces.

“This included a ring, bracelet and a pair of drop earrings she has since worn on several occasions.

DON’T MISS

“They are in an Art Deco style and seem to be custom made for Kate.”

The unique jewellery set features diamonds that stood out against white gold bands.

“The earrings feature two round diamond clusters,” the expert added, “almost in a flower shape, with the central diamond having a yellow hue, bridged by three horizontal baguette diamonds set in white gold.

“The bracelet has a repeating diamond cluster and baguette pattern bordered by two rows of diamonds, with the central diamond again seeming to have a yellow hue. The ring has a double diamond cluster.”

Kate has since shown the significance of the pieces by wearing them at special events.

The mother-of-three wore the set just months after her wedding at her first solo event as a member of the Royal Family.

Anna continued: “Notably and rather appropriately, Kate wore these in October 2011 when she stood in for her father-in-law Prince Charles which was her first solo event.”

Not only are the jewels likely to hold a lot of sentimental significance, they are sure to be worth a small fortune.

Anna added: “Judging from the images, I estimate the value of these earrings to be £15,000 and the bracelet to be £45,000.”

Kate has worn many pieces of eye-catching jewellery since becoming the Duchess of Cambridge.

During the coronavirus lockdown, she has been making virtual appearances by using video calls.

During these appearances, she has been noticed for making more subtle jewellery choices.
