Kate puts Meghan and Harry’s royal exit behind her as Duchess hosts gala dinner at Palace

Kate looked glamorous in a sparkly beaded blue dress. The Duchess of Cambridge accessorised her look with a matching clutch and a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings. Kate spoke with children from Place2Be ahead of the dinner she is hosting in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the charity. Place2Be provides emotional and mental health support to children from at an early age.

Earlier today Kate was reunited with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, in what is believed to have been the first time since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK.

Kate and Prince William were on their royal tour of Ireland when Meghan touched down in the UK and joined Harry for their final engagements as senior royals.

However, the reunion at today’s Commonwealth Service in Westminster Abbey was not a “warm” one, a body language claimed.

The Cambridges and Sussex shared an awkward exchange as Prince William and Kate arrived for the service.

Ms James described the meeting between William and Kate and Harry and Meghan as a “rather odd greeting ritual”.

She added: “It wasn’t the warm reunion that we were all hoping for. The tension in Harry’s body language especially was palpable.

“When he arrived, the minute he and Meghan had to drop hands, he immediately reached for his wedding ring which is a self comfort.

“Even when she was beside him after they had stopped holding hands, he was missing her needing her support.”

William and Kate took their seats in the row in front of Meghan and Harry, with the Queen arriving last.

Meghan was seen to mouth “hi” and give a small wave to William and Kate but the Duchess of Cambridge appeared to avoid eye contact, while Prince William only acknowledged the pair after greeting Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
