‘Kim Jong-un’ delivers URGENT US election warning – ‘Not hard for democracy to collapse’

The clip is actually a so-called ‘deep fake’, a synthetic video produced by AI, made to warn about the dangers of misinformation to western democracy. Dramatic improvements in AI technology are allowing people to create video clips of people appearing to say things they never actually said.

Experts have warned it is likely this will be used as a political tool to spread false propaganda.

In the video Kim Jong-un faces the camera and appears to say: “Democracy is a fragile thing.

“More fragile than you want to believe. If the election fails there is no democracy.

“I don’t have to do anything. You’re doing it to yourselves.

“People are divided. Your voting districts are manipulated.

“Voting locations are closing so millions can’t vote.

“It’s not hard for democracy to collapse. All you have to do is nothing.”

The video was produced by RepresentUs, an American group formed to protect and enhance US democracy.

“Get rid of the ballots, and you’ll have a very – you’ll have a very peaceful – there won’t be a transfer, frankly, there’ll be a continuation.”

Mr Trump has been alleging, without providing evidence, that the election is being rigged against him using postal ballots.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic a higher than usual number of Americans are expected to vote by postal ballot.

The allegation has been rejected to independent polling experts.

RepresentUs claims to be a cross-party group fighting for democratic reform.

Its website reads: “We bring together conservatives, progressives, and everyone in between to pass powerful state and local laws that fix our broken elections and stop political bribery.

“Our strategy is central to ending political corruption, extremism and gridlock.”

Currently Democratic candidate Joe Biden is favourite to win next months poll defeating President Trump.

The latest Opinium/Guardian poll puts Mr Biden ahead by 17 percent nationally.

However, in a number of key states, where the election is likely to be decided, the polls are much closer.
