Riot Games has been working on League of Legends Wild Rift for much of 2020 and are now starting a new testing phase. This won’t be kicking off until June 2020 and will be very limited in scope, meaning it won’t include a LoL Mobile beta build. Instead, it will be an Alpha version of League of Legends Wild Rift, which will be available in Brazil and the Philippines.
News on the LoL Mobile rollout will be shared by the end of May and will include details for Android and iOS users.
This information was shared by Riot Games earlier this month, following a mix up on the Google Play Store.
“Many of you found a “testing” link that was briefly available on the Play Store,” a message from Riot Games explains.
“Opting into this test likely put your account into a weird state with an “install” button that errored out.
“This one was our bad; we had accidentally toggled a setting that allowed you to ‘opt-in’ to a non-existent early access test.
“If you’re affected by this, you might have to pre-register again, but everything else should be back to normal.
“We’ve also seen reports that push notification has been sent out to some players saying the game is available.
“We’re still tracking down the source of where this is happening, bit to be clear: the game is not available yet.
“So please don’t download anything fishy! Thanks to everyone that helped us troubleshoot so far.
“We’re temporarily raising the required device specs to support a very limited alpha test next month in Brazil and The Philippines.
“More info on that, and a bunch more, at the end of May. Hopefully, this helps – thanks for sticking with us.”
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS MOBILE RELEASE DATE
While Riot Games haven’t provided a full launch schedule, they have provided a rough guide.
League of Legends Wild Rift is to launch on mobile devices in 2020, with consoles set to follow at a later time.
LoL Mobile: Wild Rift is also going to see a range of alpha and beta tests, some of them starting this year.
Console versions will follow and it sounds like they won’t be arriving until 2021, so perhaps a new game for the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
But at the very least, it sounds like LoL Mobile will be available everywhere in the world by the end of 2020.
A further message from Riot Games explains: “For mobile, we’re coming to iOS and Android, and you can pre-register on the Google Play Store right now. For console… we’ll have more info on that a bit later in 2020.
“Adding cross-platform between League PC and Wild Rift would require compromises of competitive integrity, and we want to make sure the gameplay feels fair and fun no matter which platform you’re most comfortable on.
“During certain big moments throughout the year, we’ll try to coordinate event themes and releases between League PC and Wild Rift, and we’re exploring the possibility of cross-platform play between mobile and console, but nothing locked in yet.”
A new League of Legends Wild Rift update is coming at the end of May 2020.
