Liverpool should “rub Everton’s noses in it” when they face off on Wednesday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield, according to Charlie Nicholas. Nicholas is confident that the Reds will extend their undefeated streak in the Premier League with another win but doesn’t like Toffees boss Marco Silva’s chances.
Silva has come under fire following a poor run of results that has seen the Merseysiders slump to 17th place in the table with just two points separating them from the relegation zone.
And Nicholas expects the Portuguese manager’s misery to continue against Liverpool, who proved that despite some “defensive frailties” they can still get a result against Brighton last weekend.
The pundit believes that Jurgen Klopp’s men will be “comfortable”, even though Alisson will be absent after being shown a red card against the Seagulls.
The former Arsenal star also argues that a heavy defeat will spell the end for Silva and Everton may then target the likes of Eddie Howe and David Moyes as replacements.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “I watched the Liverpool match for Soccer Saturday at the weekend and in the end, they deserved to win.
“But the three points didn’t come without a struggle. They were hanging on at the end and the defensive frailties were highlighted once more.
“Alisson will miss the derby match and his replacement Adrian was a bag of nerves when he came on.
